Battlefield 6 is Free to Play for One Week on All Platforms

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced a bold promotional move, making its flagship military shooter, Battlefield 6, completely free to play for an entire week. The strategic timing allows players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC to dive into the full game experience just as its main rival faces significant backlash.

Battlefield 6 is Free to Play for One Week on All Platforms

The free access period is scheduled to run from November 25th through December 2nd, offering a critical opportunity for new players to experience the current state of the game following its latest major content updates.

EA’s Calculated Response to the CoD: Black Ops 7 Backlash

This move comes as a direct challenge to Activision and the Call of Duty franchise. Recent reports indicate that the newly launched Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has been met with heavy criticism from both players and critics, reportedly experiencing one of the series’ worst launch receptions in history on platforms like Steam.

EA and DICE are clearly seizing this moment of vulnerability in the competitive market to attract disgruntled Call of Duty fans and draw attention back to their own title. By offering the full game for free, they hope to prove Battlefield 6 is the superior military shooter experience.

Dates and Platforms: How to Play for Free

The complimentary week of action is available across all major next-gen and PC platforms:

  • PC

  • PlayStation 5

  • Xbox Series X/S

Players can download the full version of the game starting November 25th and will have until December 2nd to explore all maps, modes, and progress within the game. Any progression achieved during the free period will be saved and transferred if the player chooses to purchase the full game afterward.

Gearing Up for the ‘Winter Offensive’ Update

The free week serves as an appetizer for the game’s final major content drop of 2025. Following the conclusion of the complimentary period, players can look forward to the “Winter Offensive” update, scheduled to launch on December 9th.

This update promises to introduce new tactical challenges, including a completely frozen, snow-covered version of the Empire State map, along with new weapons and seasonal assignments to wrap up the year.
